How to rock Mothers Day the Dutch way!

Organizing your wooden shoe collection, cooking the perfect stamppot andijvie and biking around with one too many bags at once, are just some of the many things our (Dutch) moms do for us. If you have a Dutch mother, then she probably guides you and your family with a healthy dose of common sense and directness. Thats why, this Mothers day, it's time to take a step back and spoil her very, very Dutch.. uhh we mean very much, of course!

Check out 7 Mothers Day tips and tricks, that will make your (Dutch) mom feel right at home!

1. Dinner at “Dutch Mothers” in Lynden (WA)

Doesn't this place sound too good to be true? I mean, let's be honest, there is not a more fitting place to visit, than “Dutch Mothers” in Lynden on Mothers Day! This cute little town is just a slice of Holland heaven in the middle of Washington State.

The family-friendly restaurant serves generous portions of delicious european homestyle cooking like pannekoeken/pancakes, split pea soup and kroketten/croquettes!

Done with dinner? Just take a stroll through the town and visit the windmill, the postkantoor or the many dutch stores downtown to find the perfect gift.

Depending on how long your beloved Dutchie has been in the US, she may or may not know Rituals from back home. Either way, we guarantee you: she'll want it!

With many beauty products ranging from body wash to soaps and creams, there is always something you can find to surprise her!

Did you know that the "Tiny Rituals Collection" is both the ideal gift for new moms and to those less fortunate. Rituals financially support the Tiny Miracles foundation as part of the Rituals corporate responsibility initiative.

A shower has never felt so good, so try NOT steal/borrow her body wash foam ;)

3. In NYC? Sign her up  for classes with Mom in Balance

Moms do pretty much everything and finding time for exercise and health isn't always the easiest thing to do. If your mom would likes to invest in her health and loves a good work-out session then this program, which concentrates on pregnant women, postpartum recovery workouts and total body workouts, can benefit your mom who wants to be fit and in shape.

Together with new, experienced and expecting New York mothers, Mom in Balance offers regular work out sessions in Central, Prospect or Battery Park. The NYC Chapter is founded by Verena, a German mom who used to live in the Netherlands. This exercise lifestyle has inspired women to live healthy in more than 120 countries!

As a nice bonus its a great way to meet friends with kids, and chances are that mom can practice her Dutch while working out.

4. Take her to the Tulip Time Festival!

Why just simply get a bouquet of flowers if you can take your mom to see a million of them! Every year, in the beginning of May,  all the tulips blossom, bloom and provide a wonderful palette of colors.

No need to take your mom all the way home to the Keukenhof, instead we highly recommend a visit to the Tulip Time Festival in Holland, Michigan! The town opens its doors and devotes an entire festival to this colorful event.

Next to beautiful family picture options (which Mom doesn't love that) theres tons of other Dutch stuff to do! We recommend spoiling mom by purchasing a stunning tulip bouquet!

Simply getting mom a good chunk of Dutch cheese will probably do the trick. But hey, you don't want to go Dutch for Mothers day, right?!

Thats why it would be #Gouda to check out the Boska collection of cheese accessories!

Ranging from fancy 'kaasschaven' to grates and cheese plates, as well as cheesy fondue sets and much more.

Take a peek what they are all about and don't forget the cheese though… we recommend Beemster ;)

"Love goes through the stomach" is not just a famous Dutch saying, and it couldn't be more true. Dutch baker Fabian in Boston offers the best holland inspired treats, especially those who are not that easy to find in places like the US.

So if your mom is a sucker for Dutch goodies like banketstaaf filled up speculaas, Gouda cheese sticks as well as saucijzen sandwiches, then this is THE place to go to for your Mothers day gifts!

Please note that the webshop isn't online as of yet, but if you email or call Fabian's European Pastries, he would be more than happy to accommodate any of your mothers day request. Thats what we like to call; #lekker
